Day 4 of the conference started with one of the "classic" awards of ICTR-PHE: the G. H. Fletcher Lecture, funded by the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston. This year's lecture was given by given by Ralph Weichselbaum who presented the latest results on host and tumour immunity.
The audience then split into two rooms for parallel sessions, centred on new approaches to help achieve a better radio-therapeutic control of the tumours.
Understanding the fine biological mechanisms that are involved in the response to radiotherapy (whether they are related to radio-sensitization or to radio-resistance) can be a key to develop a personalized therapeutic approach for cancer patients.
